U.S. Coast Guard intends to use airsoft replicas of the SIG Sauer P229 pistols in their training process. Nowadays, the guards use the SIG Sauer P229R pistols chambered for the .40 S&W.

The choice fell on a replica called the SIG AIR Pro Force P229. There is little information about the training gun itself. It is to have a metal frame and a one-piece ergonomic grip and sights adapted for night shooting. The muzzle velocity is in the range of 280-340 fps and the range is from 15 to 25 meters. Its distinguishing feature are to be an exceptionally high quality and the degree of replicating the appearance and operation of the real firearm. SIG Sauer writes about the entire SIG AIR Pro product line in an official announcement.

The license for the production of airsoft versions of SIG Sauer pistols has belonged to Cybergun for years. It is therefore likely that the SIG AIR Pro Force P229 manufcturer will be Spartan M&LE, which is a part of Cyberguna responsible for cooperation with uniformed services.

Today, Spartan's offer includes three training airsoft SIG Sauer pistols, including the P229 model - http://www.spartan-mle.com/fr/produits/licences/sig-sauer. The specifications, however, show that most likely this gun is not the subject of a contract with the USCG.

An interesting information is the announcement of the availability of a gun on the commercial market in 2019. Does the "commercial market" mean the same as the "civilian market"? We'll see. Although this may vary, as exemplified by the Glock pistols produced by VFC for the civilian market for Umarex, and the version with a reinforced slide exclusively for the M&LE market and only for Spartan.
