A spring powered replica of a modern Russian sniper rifle became available today at Gunfire. As announced, you can choose between 2 versions. The standard rifle (below) comes with one low-cap magazine for 50 BBs.
The Raptor SW-98 DeLuxe version comes with 2 magazines, a bipod, a silencer, flash hider and a carrying handle:
Apart from the accessories, both versions are identical. The bolt-action spring mechanism generates a muzzle velocity of about 430 fps. According to the information provided the trigger mechanism, the cylinder assembly and other parts are made "from metal and steel", which is somewhat enigmatic. We would prefer to read only about the latter at this point. Yet, the information circling the Internet and concerning the material from which the stock was to be made proved to be false. Just like in the case of the original stock this one is also made of plywood, not solid wood.
Unfortunately, as expected, replica prices are not low. The standard version costs 584,41 €, and the Deluxe 852,38 €. Additional magazines are also available. The price: 46,04 €.
In September we came across information about the Raptor limited series of SW-98M replicas planned with a modern lightweight stock and a free floating barrel, which is supposed to be distributed before next Christmas, but there is no further information on this topic.
