We wrote about a new Poseidon project called Punisher in January (LINK). This is a line of inexpensive AEG replicas of AR-15 system carbines with several interesting solutions. The receiver, made of reinforced nylon, are connected with modern aluminum handguards made in the M-LOK standard, and the replicas have Air Cushion precision barrels and the Trident electronic control system. Other parts of the mechanism are already typical for this class of replicas.
Last Monday we had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the new series of twin replicas made by Double Eagle, a company previously known mainly from the production of shotguns.
The Honey Badger is a large family of AR-15 replicas. They are divided mainly because of the material from which they are made. The cheaper, budget line is made entirely of reinforced nylon (pictured above). The more expensive models are have alloy (ZnAl) receivers and aluminum handguards.
Further differences are the length of the handguard and the barrel. Versions with 7 to 15 inches long handguards and appropriately long barrels are available. Individual models also differ in the type of flash hider and stocks used.
All replicas have a programmable electronic control system called Falcon.
The system offers 3-stage trigger sensitivity adjustment, burst fire of up to 5 shots, the ability to shoot double shots in the SEMI mode: 1 shot when the trigger is pulled plus another when it is released and also cycle control (stopping the piston in the forward position). Of course, extensive current protection is included, including LiPo battery protection. It works with 7.4 and 11.1V batteries. The set includes a replica adapter for a battery with a mini Tamiya plug and an additional DEANS plug for self-assembly on your battery.
Up close the replicas make a surprisingly good impression. Of course, were are not talking about quality or accuracy of reproduction, but about the fitting of parts and the sturdiness of their structure. Additionally, they are handy and light. A few details:
Honey Badger replicas will be available at Taiwangun soon. We received the shortest and the cheapest model in the series for testing (the price will probably be slightly above 90 EUR) - a carbine is made of nylon and bears the 904 number. Its extensive review will be available soon.
