Silverback Airsoft is one of the airsoft brands focused on the quality and unique design of its replicas. Continuing this trend is another replica that has now entered retail: the Russian VSK/VSSK Vychlop bullpup sniper rifle.
We first had the opportunity to take a closer look at the replica during IWA 2024, where its prototype was presented in detail (WSSK Vychlop – a replica by Silverback Airsoft).
At the time, we also learned more about the replica’s key components, many of which are shared with another bullpup replica manufactured by Silverback Airsoft, namely the SRS. These include the 41 cm³ cylinder, piston, spring guide, and spring, as well as outer barrels fitted with the FAST-type hop-up chamber. This gives players the option of upgrading the replica using proven aftermarket components that are already available.
However, designing the VSK/VSSK Vychlop replica also required the development of unique components, including dedicated magazines with a capacity of 68 BBs. This was made possible by the original firearm, which is chambered in 12.7 × 55 mm and uses five-round magazines. Other unique components include the receiver and one of the replica’s most impressive parts — its suppressor, available in two lengths.
The replica uses a two-stroke/straight-pull action, with the cocking handle positioned at pistol-grip height, further forward than on the SRS. The design can also be configured for left-handed users by ordering an additional cocking handle for the left side. The handle itself consists of several components forming a simple locking mechanism that holds it in its forward and rearward positions. The replica also incorporates a number of other airsoft-specific features, such as built-in adjustment of the pressure applied beneath the top rail, the option to configure the ejection port cover to remain fixed or move with the cocking cycle for added realism, and a straightforward takedown procedure almost identical to that of the SRS rifle replicas.
Customers can choose from three color options: tan, green, and classic black. Kits are also available without a suppressor or with either a shorter or longer suppressor — both made from reinforced fiberglass.
The replica entered official retail sales in early September and is already available from selected Polish online stores, where it has attracted considerable interest.
Could Silverback Airsoft expand its lineup with replicas of other Russian firearms chambered in the same exotic 12.7 × 55 mm caliber, namely the ShAK-12 assault rifle and ShR-12 revolver? Such a possibility cannot be ruled out in the case of another bolt-action replica, especially considering the already-developed replica of the MDRX semi-automatic platform from Desert Tech — a design created by the developers of the SRS platform. We can confirm that work is underway on a VSK variant factory-equipped with an HPA system.
