The Arma series debuted in 2006 and from the very beginning focused on high realism of its gameplay. Its latest installment, Arma Reforger from 2022, is in turn a direct reference to the inspiration for the entire series, Operation Flashpoint, where American troops fight the Soviets on the fictional island of Everon.
The latest initiative related to the new Arma is the Make Arma Not War 2025 contest, aimed at mod creators. As the developers themselves state:
"This official content creation contest for Arma Reforger, powered by the Enfusion engine, invites creators to showcase their skills using the same tools as Bohemia Interactive's developers. Whether you're a veteran modder or new to the scene, this is your chance to innovate and share your work with the Arma Reforger community. With over $100,000 in prizes, it's an excellent opportunity to gain recognition and have your creations enjoyed by players worldwide."
Mod creators can compete in three categories: Assets, Playable Content, and Wildcard, each of which concerns a different aspect of modding. The prize pool for each category is $17,000.
An additional category is called Don't Fight Alone, funded in partnership with Stack Up, an organization created by the gaming community to help veterans. Here one can win $3000 for a mod that reduces toxicity in the game, promotes positive communication, and directly helps veterans suffering from mental health issues.
