The name of the new tool by Mike Vellecamp is the C.R.A.B - an acronym for cut, rescue, assist, break.
The name is not as much of a reference to the charming marine animal but to the main purpose of the tool, i.e. rescue - although it must be added that the shape of the tool itself also resembles a crab.
The C.R.A.B has the form of a carabiner that can be worn in a sheath that comes with the tool, clipped to a loop on a belt, attached to a loop on a backpack, or hooked in a car, on a bike or a quad. The tool is large enough to put it in your hand and after clenching it in a fist create... a tool for breaking windows or for self-defense.
The C.R.A.B. includes the following tools: a ruler, scissors (meeting the TSA standards for item allowed on airplanes), an O2 key, a bottle opener, a removable glass breaker, several screwdriver bits and two compartments for storing the bits - horizontal and vertical.
The C.R.A.B. is available in black, OD green and Safety orange. The MSRP of the C.R.A.B. it 99 USD. The kit also includes a small Hermit Crab that is not TSA compliant.
