According to PopularAirsoft in the near future a completely new and innovative V2 gearbox frame by the Japanese LayLax company will be available. There are several new solutions in it and the most important of them is the division of the entire frame into 3, and not 2 parts, as done before. What was previously the right half of the frame  was divided into two separate parts. The lower aluminum panel has bearing seats and covers the gears and the contact switch with the trigger. The upper part made is made of ZnAl and covers the pneumatic system with the spring and the spring guide. How it looks in practice can be seen in the video shared today by LayLax:

According to the manufacturer, the main advantage of the new solution is the simplification of service work, including gears shimming and obtaining increased resistance to cracking of the upper part of the frame.

Looking closely at the video, we have mixed feelings... Easy access to the sector gear wheel after removing the top half is a fact, but is it worth it? Our doubts are also caused by the transfer of a greater part of the impact forces to the left half of the frame as the cylinder port of the right half is open from the top. Therefore the right and left half must work differently, although it will be visible only when using springs stronger than allowed by Japanese law. In our opinion, when it will be used with harder springs, the cylinder head will tend to skew to the left. Other novelties such as a quick spring replacement system with a guide complete with a gearbox, rounded corners of the cylinder port or a very sensible tracing of the wires outside the frame that they do not get damaged by the gear on the motor shaft are really nothing new. Will the new LayLax product conquer the market? We'll see.
