World media report about on plans to build a sniper rifle with an effective range of 7 km. The design of the Lobaev Arms company, with was designated as the DXL-5, is to be chambered for a special round of a completely new design, made specially for this rifle according to the general director of the company, Vladislav Lobaev, in an interview with RIA Novosti. Mr Lobaev also added that, at the moment, the company does not want to disclose more details about the caliber of the weapon and the design of the new round.
The DXL-5 rifle is to be the next one in the Lobaev sniper rifle family, after the DXL-4 "Sevastopol" model
and the DXL-3 „Longstrike" model
Currently, the Lobaev rifle with the greatest range is the SVLK-14S "Twilight" model available in .408 Cheytac, .338 Lapua Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum.

According to the assurances of the Russians, the above mentioned weapons can hit a target of up to 4.2 km away. Whether it is Russian megalomania or a real design and what optics will be proposed by rifle's designers, that will be able to show a clear target at a range of 7 km, only time will tell.
