The HK416 carbine, designed to eliminate all the problems plaguing designs with the Eugen Stoner's DI system, has a large group of fans, but also a large group of opponents. One of the objections of the latter is the incompatibility of some of the accessories meant for the AR-15 system and a small selection of the HK416 designed accessories in the offers of leading manufacturers.
Meanwhile, the market, although to a small extent, is expanding thanks to the products of the Norwegian MEKANIX company.
The first of the accessories for the HK416 is the slender handguard in the M-Lok system. The accessory is equipped with 61 M-Lok slots, giving the user many options for installing all sorts of accessories. In addition, at the bottom and top of the handguard, the manufacturer has milled grooves resembling the shape and size of a standard Picatinny rail which allows, after some modifications, to mount accessories with standard Picatinny adapters. The photos below show a modified mount.
The handguard dimensions are 46 mm in diameter, 420 mm/16.5 inches in length and a weight of 415 g. The material from which the accessory is made is aluminum.
Another of the MEKANIX products, which can attract the attention of the HK416/MR223 users, is an adjustable, low-profile gas block.
This penultimate feature should be especially of interest to potential buyers, because civilian HKMR223s are delivered with non-adjustable blocks, which with the growing interest in sound suppressors in Poland is essential for the correct operation of the system. The gas block has a much smaller dimensions and is 25% lighter than the original.
The dimensions of the parts are 46 mm x 23 mm x 41 mm and the weight is 105 g. The block is made of Rm1200N/mm2 steel and the coated with Cerakote C-102 (Graphite Black). According to the manufacturer's information, the block works perfectly with HK carbines with a 16.5-inch barrel.

However, the accessories are not the cheapest. The handguard costs 5500 NOK and the gas block 3000 NOK.
