Today, probably no one can imagine a replica without the hop-up system. The widespread use of this system in airsoft replicas at the beginning of the century revolutionized both the market and airsoft games. The hop-up system was first introduced by Tokyo Marui to improve the range of a replica without modifying the gearbox. The system uses the Magnus effect - the hop-up bucking is designed to give a BB shot reverse rotation, making its flight path flatter and longer. If you want to effectively and relatively cheaply affect the performance of your new, straight-out-of-the-box replica, it is worth considering replacing this part. Today, users have a variety of chambers, buckings and spacers to choose from, thanks to which one can optimize the operation of a replica by increasing the range and grouping without having to increase the muzzle velocity of a BB. A solution to the dilemma of which chamber to install is proposed by a Polish manufacturer based in Krakow - GATE Enterprise - presenting the EON hop-up chamber, full of innovations and made with great attention to detail.
By purchasing the EON chamber from GATE Enterprise, we receive an elegantly packaged product with an instruction manual in multiple languages. The manufacturer has already accustomed its customers to packaging that gives the feeling of buying premium products.
In the box we will find:
- Hop-up GATE EON chamber made of aluminum using CNC machining
- pressure arm made of POM using CNC machining
- 4.5 mm universal, double-sided spacer made of POM using CNC machining (for barrels with a standard and enlarged port)
- 6 mm R-Hop spacer made of POM using CNC machining
- an arm mounting screw
- stabilizing barrel latch (c-clip) made of POM using CNC machining
- stabilizing barrel latch (c-clip) made of POM using CNC machining - offset version for buckings with a longer collar
- barrel stabilizing sleeve made of POM using CNC machining
- nozzle sleeve for HPA engines made of POM using CNC machining
- 10 x o-rings replacing the classic spring (additional chamber stabilization)
The chamber is made of aluminum using CNC machining. Among other things, it features the GATE Enterprise logo and the EON brand name. The markings are applied in a precise and visually pleasing manner. The adjustment wheel is also made of aluminum and has marked scale clearly visible to the user. It is attached to the chamber using an O-ring, which ensures the stiffness of the design and greater precision of settings. The use of this solution prevents the chamber from loosing its setting during shots. The adjustment wheel is available in a wide range of colors.
The set includes two types of barrel c-clips, which makes it much easier to adjust the barrel-chamber-bucking set. The c-clips added to the set provides greater product versatility, the additional c-clips is GATE's answer to users having problems with adjusting hop-up buckings due to the different lengths of the collars that they can have. Instead of a spring pressing the chamber to the gearbox, o-rings are used, which makes it rigidly pressed. The set also includes stickers for the chamber wings for better stabilization of the component in the barrel.
The set also includes two types of spacers:
- flat R-Hop 6 mm spacer only for barrels with an enlarged window,
- universal 4.5 mm clamp for flat omega spacers and round spacers popular in traditional chambers.
Nozzle sleeves for HPA engines are also included. They are made of POM (polycrystalline thermoplastic). This solution is intended to eliminate the effect of the mid-cap syndrome. The element is well-suited to the HPA Pulsar S engine from Gate Enterprise. Tests have shown that the use of this component does not completely eliminate the mid-cap syndrome, but it makes it easier to solve it.
The box also includes a POM sleeve that stabilizes the barrel. An external rim has been placed on it, thanks to which the o-rings evenly press the chamber to the gearbox and do not change their position. In the place where the chamber enters the gearbox there is a centering o-ring. In addition, an o-ring has been used to hold the BBs in place, which eliminates the effect of them falling out after removing the magazine.
Test on HPA replica with Pulsar S engine from Gate Enterprise
We tested the EON chamber in a newly built speedsoft replica with a polymer receiver. We used a Lambda FIVE 6.05 barrel with a length of 128 mm. The barrel required modification of the port in order to mount a flat-hop. After selecting appropriate components, we obtained satisfactory accuracy and grouping results for a single-valve engine with energy of 0.9 Jul and 0.30 g BBs from G&G Armament.
Within the given parameters, we obtained accuracy at a distance of approx. 40 m, i.e. repeatability of hits on a target the size of A5 piece of paper. The range reached over 50 m, but grouping dropped significantly.
Summary
The EON hop-up chamber from GATE Enterprise, due to the innovative solutions used and the refinement of the product itself, is undoubtedly a good choice. Its assembly is not difficult, and the use of o-rings instead of springs pressing the chamber to the gearbox, additional o-rings centering and supporting the BBs, and an additional spacer and c-clip make the GATE Enterprise product seem to be ahead of the competition. The adjustment wheel moves smoothly, without clicking and with well-balanced resistance preventing changes in settings. In other words, the problem known to many users of stock chambers, which get out of adjustment under the influence of vibrations generated during shooting, in not present. The quality of workmanship, ease of assembly and very precise control of the adjustment mean that the EON chamber from Gate Enterprise should be considered a choice worth considering.
The EON chamber can currently be purchased on the manufacturer's website for 52,48 EUR
