Ares Airsoft has decided to shake things up with its latest release. Without any prior announcement, the company has prepared players with a replica of the iconic (and for some, beloved) Russian carbine, the OTs-14 Groza. The newly unveiled OTs-14A4 replica is based on the gas-powered MWS/Z-System developed by Tokyo Marui and is expected to use its magazines and some components. While the situation regarding the magazines is unclear (a 9x39mm version was presented, suggesting an in-house product, yet information was also provided about compatibility with Tokyo Marui gas AK magazines), Ares Airsoft directly states that it uses trigger mechanism components from Tokyo MaruiAK replicas, as well as the hop-up chamber.
The entire system is to be housed in a receiver made from stamped steel sheet, generate around 100–120 m/s muzzle velocity, and be powered by both Green Gas and CO2 (which further suggests proprietary magazines).
Alongside the replica, a special treat will also be released in the form of a complete replica of the GP-30 under-barrel grenade launcher, featuring a trigger mechanism that allows firing either the launcher or the rifle using a single trigger. Replica grenades will also be released with the launcher. No information has been provided regarding the final release date of the replica.
