We have reached information on the gradual introduction of the HK M320 grenade launcher into service by the USMC.

The new weapon is to replace the venerable and proven M203 grenade launchers, which have been used by the US military forces since the 1970s. These grenade launchers were mounted under the barrels of M16 and M4 rifles. They were less frequently used as an independent weapon in the stand-alone mode.

The M320 offers greater versatility, not only as a weapon suspended under the barrel, but also as an autonomous "mini-artillery" after adding the appropriate adapter with an extendable buttstock, front grip and even optical sights.

The USMC is another branch of the US armed forces after the US Army that accepts the German grenade launcher as its equipment.
