"Tiger Stripe" camouflage is mainly associated with the Vietnam War and the American and Vietnamese units using it.
Tiger Stripe camouflage proved to be so effective that new, sometimes modernized versions, have been created, such as the Desert Tiger Stripe or camouflage used by USAF called "Digital" Tiger Stripe.
Meanwhile, today unusual photos of the soldiers of the legendary 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) training with regular US Army units appeared on the Internet. The operators, in addition to their modern equipment, wore uniforms in the classic Tiger Stripe camouflage and regular (not subdued) insignia of special forces on their sleeves.
It seems that some of the soldiers went a bit further, empathizing with the "Vietnamese" roots of this uniform, and instead of wearing FAST helmets, they've put on green bandanas on their heads, just like Robert DeNiro in "The Deer Hunter".
We are in the process of determining what is the story behind Green Berets wearing such unusual uniforms.
