The Obskura was born from the experience and knowledge of the Kryptek company gained through efforts to improve the camouflage of the US Army and cooperation with other allied countries and their special units.

The genesis of camouflage can be briefly described as follows. The macro-pattern of the original Kryptek family of camos has become the micro-pattern for Obskura, and elements inspired by the widely proven Tiger Stripe camouflage have become Obkcura's macro pattern. For decades, the Tiger Stripe camouflage has been widely used by various special forces units in various operations, proving to be a good and reliable camouflage pattern.
Below are some of the features that make Obskura camouflage stand out:

- Dynamic break-up of the user’s outline for a lower probability of detection from naked-eye acquisition

- Improved effectiveness of concealment at longer ranges with a bolder and well-defined macro-patter

- Enhanced concealment in IR and SWIR

- Worldwide effectiveness with multi-environment flexibility

The Obskura camouflage comes in three variants: Transitional, Grom and Nox.

The Transitional Obskura blends into numerous environments as part of the transitional classification of the terrain, which accounts for 70% of the Earth's surface. Camouflage colors have a greater tendency to use ambient light reflected from surrounding objects to achieve the maximum effect of "blending in" with the surroundings.

Obskura Grom was developed on the basis of information obtained from American and coalition special units testing camouflage in winter operational conditions, with the residual presence of greenery.

Nox obscura has been generated as a result of the popularity of the Kryptek Typhon (black) pattern among various law enforcement and anti-terrorist units around the world. A purely psychological design, Obskura Nox allows users to combine the functionality of Obskura Transitional uniforms with IFF behavior.

Obskura will be available in spring 2020.
