Will the legendary MRE or Meal Ready to Eat (or Meal Rejected by the Enemy) become a thing of the past? New food rations that could dethrone the MRE were presented at AUSA 19.
Close Combat Assault Ration (CCAR) food packages realize the idea of reducing the weight and volume of standard MRE rations by up to 40%.
The photos show prototype food packages. In addition to reducing the weight and volume, manufacturers also strive to increase nutrient stability and optimize the performance of food products.
The visualization shows how much smaller the 10-day CCAR ration pack is compared to the same amount of MRE.
