Apple. Yes, the manufacturer of our "beloved" phones intends to start a project of an epic series worthy of the works of Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
The "Masters of the Air" series will tell as story of American bomber pilots flying over Nazi Germany during World War II.
The production will be based on a book first published in 2006 book by Donald Miller titled "Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys". News about the series was first published by the Hollywood Reporter in 2013, and HBO was to join forces with the Spielberg-Hanks duo again.
But the plan failed because of HBO's lack of initiative. "Band of Brothers" and "Pacific" were costly ventures for the company that made a profit only by selling DVDs. In the current market, DVDs are being replaced by streaming services which may have been the basis of HBO's decision.
Apple is currently investing serious money in a streaming service called Apple TV+, which may be the reason why the company wants to launch the "Masters of the Air" project.
Spielberg and Apple will be cooperating for the second time. Their first joint film was the "Amazing Stories" produced by Spielberg's Amblin Television. In addition to Tom Hanks, executive producers will be Gary Goetzman and Steven Shareshian from Playtone. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey from Ambin TV will also join them.
The release date of the "Masters of the Air" has not yet been announced. Apple TV + will be launched on November 1.
