8FIELDS it Taiwangun's own brand, under which inexpensive tactical vests, bags, pouches, backpacks and other items have been sold for years. Due to the very affordable prices, the basic material from which 8FIELDS products are made is nylon/polyester 600D/1000D. Taiwangun, which successively raises the quality of its products, has just introduced the 8FIELDS Premium sub-brand, which is dedicated to more advanced or more demanding users.
The basic distinguishing feature of the Premium series is the use of much better (more durable) materials. Although some will probably find it hard to believe, the new products are made from real Cordura, and the zippers are YKK products.
We hope to conduct a comparison of products from both lines in the near future. At first glance, of course, the price difference is visible, but it is surprisingly small. For example the Jump Plate Carrier V2 (with dummy plates) by 8FIELDS - 1000D polyester has a regular price of about 30.50 EUR (25 EUR on a sale).
The same plate carrier, also with dummy plates by 8FIELSD Premium - Cordura 500D costs around 45 EUR.
As we learn, the material used (Cordura) is produced in a Korean factory, which was authorized to do so by DuPont in 2012. This should end any speculation about a "Chinese cordura" used, that will probably appear on the Internet soon.
There are currently 3 colors available: green, coyote and black. The Multicam version will also appear soon and this material is imported from the United States.
