We first came across the grenade launcher in November last year. Yesterday at Taiwangun we had the opportunity to examine it up close.

This stand-alone grenade launcher is made almost entirely of polymers and designed to shoot BBs from widely available 40mm gas-powered grenades. Its characteristic feature is the ability to carry it on a belt or vest via the attached latch. The ball joint marked with the red arrow slides into a notch in the latch, which automatically (via a spring) protects the grenade launcher against accidental falling out. The connection is not stiff as the ball joint rotates freely in the coupling without hindering movement.

To release the grenade launcher from the latch, one has to press the safety button. It is placed in such a way that the thumb touches it immediately after placing the hand on the handle of the grenade launcher (yellow arrow). Before each shot, the spring-loaded the striking mechanism (green arrow) must be primed.

The loaded weapon with a primed striking mechanism can be relocated relatively safely thanks to a safety button located in the trigger. In the photo it is in the "fire" position. Pressing it mechanically locks the trigger and prevents it from being pressed. At the front there is a button used to open the barrel to the side (red arrow).

The grenade launcher can be loaded with, i.e. dedicated APS grenades with a capacity of 162 BBs (XP02 - shorter one) or 198 BBs (XP03 - longer one). An extension is also available which role is to stabilize the BBs in their first phase of flight. It fits both grenades.

The grenades can be loaded with BBs without the help of a speedloader. It is necessary to have a suitable adapter to load CO2.

Here a presentation of the APS grenade in operation by Evike (a different grenade launcher was used). As you can see, the range is not impressive, but as a weapon of last resort, the Thor with an APS grenade will work for sure.

Despite the "mighty" appearance, carrying the polymer Thor on a belt does not cause discomfort. The problem may appear only if the user wants to use both Picatinny rails (also made of polymer) by mounting a collimator, a laser sight or a flashlight on them.
