There is information in the Internat about the soon-to-be released last batch of a licensed replica of the large-caliber Barrett M107 and Barrett M107CQB sniper rifles. The replicas are powered by CO2 and, as befits the "large-caliber" rifles, they shoot with 8 mm BBs. However, the main feature in this case is something completely different. The gas and BBs are loaded into dummy cartridges, which are then placed in a box magazine. While placing the BBs in a "cartridge" is simple and obvious, loading it with gas (CO2) requires the use of a special adapter. In order to fire the first shot, the replica must be charged with the first round. Thanks to a blowback system, subsequent shots no longer require reloading. What's more, after each shot, the "spent" reusable cartridge is ejected from the receiver.
Basic parameters of the replica:
- overall length: 1440 mm;
- weight: 10.4 kg;
- magazine capacity: 10 rounds (dummy cartridges);
- number of cartridges in the set: 5 (not confirmed);
- muzzle velocity: approx. 250 fps (NOTE: balls 8 mm 0.48 g)
The contents of the set and the price have not yet been given. Earlier batches were sold in transport cases made of plastic with a set of five "cartridges". Additional ones were also available in sets of five at a price of a mere 100 USD (plus shipment and other fees). A spare magazines also costs 100 USD. The replica itself (in a case) costed about 1600 USD.
