The tactical equipment industry is developing dynamically, both in Poland and globally. Our editorial team dinosaurs remember times when, at most, you could only choose from between Eagle Industries, Blackhawk, LBT or our native MIWO brands.
Numerous conflicts, and thus wider feedback from soldiers and operators is the probable reason that changed and expanded the tactical equipment industry.
Defense Mechanisms is a new, and still relatively unknown player.
What distinguishes DM from other companies? According to Tim Marshall - the founder, these are:
"1) We have a long standing track record in soft goods design and manufacturing working as a leader in the outdoor industry.
2) Making everything in house gives us total control of quality and allows us to offer unique, customized combinations that are not available anywhere else.
3) Our designers are also users of the products they make. We have first-hand knowledge and experience with the products we design, compared to designers who simply consult with end users, but fail to fully understand every demand placed on the product line. We also consult with end users with more experience than ourselves, but our personal investment in these products shows in the details.
4) Every product we make is designed with light weight and minimalism in mind. This industry suffers terribly from excess features and unnecessary add-ons and components. We only put the features you need in our products keeping them lighter, more streamlined and purpose built. We don’t see our role as reinventing the wheel when it comes to the products we create. However, we are taking proven design ideas and moving them to an increased level of refinement and efficiency while adding our own touch.
You can see in our products an improved usability that leaves you wondering why nobody ever did it that way before."
A significant part of the DM product line includes plate carriers with a full range of accessories, including pouches, placards and cummerbunds.
A first aid kit called the Inconspicuous Personal Ankle Kit (I.P.A.K) also seems to be an interesting product. As the name suggests, this first aid kit can be carried on a leg as a low-profile option of transporting the medical package without the need for additional pouches or filling the pockets of a uniform.
You can also order products according to your own guidelines by choosing the type of mounting, velcro color, main material and finishing material or even the color of all the threads used for sewing.
We wish Defense Mechanisms good luck. We'll be watching the company's progress with interest.
