The Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, announced via Twitter about the finalization of the contract for new composite helmets made by Maskpol. The Ministry of National Defense will acquire 50,000 helmets, probably the HP-05 high-cut model (this is suggested by the photo posted by the minister).
The minister announced further purchases for the army, especially from Polish manufacturers, which is synonymous with supporting Polish companies during the crisis.
According to announcements from previous years, the HP-04 and HP-05 helmets are to successively replace the wz. 2005 models which last batch was to be delivered by Maskopl in 2019.
A brief characteristics of the HP-05 helmet (taken from the manufacturer's website):
- ballistic resistance: fragmentation resistance - V50 parameter, above 600 m/s for the FSP 1.1 g fragment, bulletproof against 357 Magnum JSP 10.2 g at 425 ± 15 m/s and 9x19 mm FMJ 8.0g at 360 ± 15 m/s - according to the PN-V-87001: 2011 standard,
- available in 3 sizes (head circumference range from 54 to 62 cm),
- 4-point harness system with an innovative smooth adjustment mechanism,
- size-cushioning system enabling adjustment to the user's head circumference - made in 3 sizes,
- made of modern ballistic materials,
- helmet weight from 1.25 to 1.45 kg, depending on the helmet size.
- equipped with accessory rails and a socket for mounting night vision goggles,
- compatible with other equipment: bulletproof vest, protective filter clothing, gas mask, individual means of communication and eye protection devices.
