Along with the inflow of fresh blood to uniformed services, the approach to equipment and training is also changing. Officers are expecting and ever increasing (and rightly so) performance of personal equipment and training level that has practical application during service. They also willingly spend more of their "uniform" funds on their own equipment which the state does not have money for or thinks its unnecessary.
Probably for the above reasons and "aversion to fashion of street patrolling units the 1990", the Specbrands.pl store and blogger and policeman Zohan Z-Tac designed a modular patrol vest called #holdtheline ZTAC-1.
Description from the manufacturer's website:
"The ZTAC-1 is a so-called "plate carrier" with built-in pockets of ballistic plates. This is an invisible, but very important part of the vest because it holds the plates in place during use. Thanks to this, you don't have to check if you still have them with you or if you lost them in action.
The ZTAC-1 is a modular vest that consists of a base, an interchangeable front panel and a detachable FBI belt that acts as a cummerbund.
The back has permanently sewn rows of molle tape with a very durable drag handle (up to 120 kg). The top two rows are covered with Velcro so that a large identification patch can be applied (approx. size of 10-16/18 cm). The other four are a standard PALS design, to which additional equipment can be attached.
The shoulder straps are wide and comfortable. Very durable directional Velcro make adjusting their length a problem free task. We've placed loops on the outer edges to help you control the radio wire. The lower handle for the "pear" just to be there, as we found out during testing ;)
The Cummerbund is nothing more than the well known FBI belt. To adapt it to the vest, we had to change the organization of the pocket, but still after unfastening it can still be used to secretly carry weapons during undercover assignments. The radio pocket can be used for other purposes because the rubber bands that hold it in place can be removed. Adjustment is done using a very wide Velcro, which also holds the front panel in place.
The front of the vest is not a uniform structure because the front panel is interchangeable, making the vest very versatile and modular. It is fastened with G-hooks and very durable Velcro. This solution creates a robust connection. Above the removable panel you will find 3 rows of MOLLE tapes, including two covered with Velcro. A great place for an identification patch.
The basis is a MOLLE panel with 4 rows of the PALS system tapes. There are 6 "stitches" in each row. It allows to configure the front of the vest at one's own discretion, using equipment one may already have. An additional advantage is the kangaroo pocket with a Velcro. You can fit a notebook or other items that one would always want to have on hand, but not necessarily in view.
The READY version is a front panel with pouches already configured for a street patrol. 4 pouches will easily accommodate a magazine, a gas spray, a flashlight, a multitool, etc. They are fastened with long flaps, which will also fit slightly longer items. The right wide pocket is designed for storing handcuffs. The READY panel also has a large kangaroo pocket for storing documents.
Two rows of MOLLE tapes, which are not covered with Velcro, are a dedicated attaching a wearable camera."
The plate carrier is built on the basis of CORDURA® 560 dtex PU FC material, it uses the PALS system based on the PA tape, and the seams are made with COATS threads. Everything is 100% made in Poland.
It weighs approx. 690 g, and size adjustment is made by appropriate Velcro fastening on the shoulders and the FBI belt.
The vest is available in the READY version for 739.00 PLN (around 164 EUR) and the MOLLE version for 699.00 PLN (around 158 EUR). Pre-orders can be placed from 10.07.2020.
