A few days ago, the spartanat.com portal has revealed that it had obtained the patent documentation of a possible future GLOCK product - this time, however, it is... a rifle/carbine.
What is even more interesting is the fact that until now the Austrian company was known only for its pistols. So does GLOCK intend to revolutionize the rifle sector? At the moment, it is not fully known whether the documentation that we will present below has anything to do with real plans of the company. The spartanat.com portal has asked GLOCK for a response to these "revelations", but at the moment it has not received a reply.
As for the weapon itself, it is hard to resist the impression that to some extent it will be based on the AR15 platform's solutions. This can be assumed, among other things, by analyzing the shape of the lower receiver and the manipulators placed in it. It also seems that the rifle will use STANAG magazines.
Another similarity to the AR15 is the use of a bolt carrier with a similar shape - (bolt face, lugs). The rifle, on the other hand, will probably work on the basis of the short stroke piston, and not as in the AR15, i.e. in the DI system.
Other parts that differ from the standard AR include the charging handle, which is to be located closer to the center of the rifle which is also to be folded forward when not in use.
There is also no stock guide/buffer tube, and thus, it is possible that the stock will be interchangeable as in the case of the SIG Sauer MCX rifles, where they are attached to the weapon via the picatinny interface.
At the moment it is not known in what caliber Glock will build its weapon, one can only assume from the shape of the magazines that it will probably be 5.56x45mm or .300BLK ammunition. Nothing is known about the materials the new weapon will be made of, although in the case of GLOCK we can probably assume that a certain amount of polymer in the construction will be used.
