Modifications of the legendary weapons of British soldiers continue. Some time ago, the British announced their intention to abandon the HKey system designed by Heckler & Koch in favor of handguards in the Mlok system, which is slowly becoming the informal standard.
The new handguard is currently being tested and evaluated by the Yorkshire Regiment, which is at the head of the Future Soldier program of the British army. The move towards the Mlok system seems to be a good idea, especially in the context of the above-mentioned, informal unification of weapon accessories mounting systems.
It also seems likely that the introduction of the Mlok system in the L85A3 carbines will be one of the last stages of their modernization.
