LASKA from Ukraine
The LASKA K2 (eng. walking cane) is the name of a new, large-caliber machine gun manufactured by the Ukrainian company Snipex - known for the production of other "big boys" such as the T-Rex, the Alligator or the Monomakh, about which we wrote HERE.
This time, the Ukrainians made a machine gun, which caliber and appearance do resembles the legendary .50 cal M2 "Ma Deuce" more than anything else.
The machine gun was presented a few days ago during the Arms and Security 2021 exhibition in Kiev.
The weapon is belt-fed with 12.7x108mm ammunition. Naturally, the internal design is different from the legendary .50 cal, and the differences concern, among other things, the bolt with a multiple-locking system or loading the belt without lifting the cover of the receiver. LASKA's belt links are to be made of polymer and it is to significantly reduce the cost and weight of the entire belt.
In addition, the machine gun has the ability to change the side from which the belt is fed. The barrel of the Snipex Laska K-2 measures 1111 mm, the total length of the system is 1840 mm and its weight is 29 kg.
