For several years we have witnessed the growing market of handgun holsters, which is undoubtedly related to the growing "personalization" of pistols and, though less frequently, revolvers.
Many companies offering holsters tailored to the needs of shooters have appeared on the global market. For example, owners of SIGs, Glocks or CZs with a collimator, a flashlight and an extended barrel can choose from a wide range of T-Rex Arms, GR Kydex or Kabur Gniezno Bakery.
The Blackhawk company seems to be eager to carve out a piece of the "holster cake" for itself and that is why shooters have been given access to the Blachkawk Custom Holster Shop system. Through this portal, a user can make a holster for his/her specific gun and, according to the manufacturer's assurances, the finished product will be sent to the new owner within 72 hours (within the USA).
The manufacturer's offer includes personalized OWB (outside waist band) holsters, IWB (inside waist band) and Dump Trays.
After pressing the "start building" button, the system takes us to a menu where one can choose a manufacturer and a model of a weapon and also mark whether the weapon has a flashlight or not, than one selects the side on which the holster will be carried. Then we choose the color and type of the cover for the outer and inner sides of the holster. One also chooses the width of the loop for the belt, mark whether the weapon is equipped with sights other than the standard ones and whether it has a collimator and an extended barrel.
The OWB holster configured in this way for a Glock 17 Gen5 cost me $ 96.95. Prices for OWB holsters start at $ 90.95. A basic IWB holster also costs $ 90.95. The basic Dump Tray costs $ 59.95. Do you think Blackhawk and their personalized holsters will convince a wider range of shooters to their products?
