The Czech company is not slowing down. Not so long ago, they took over the legendary Colt and now they are introducing a new line of rifles - the CZ 600.
The new models are likely to replace the CZ 527 and CZ 557 series rifles in the company's portfolio, and will be available in a large range of calibers from .223 Remington to .300 Winchester Magnum. These bolt-action rifles will also be available with 3 types of actions - mini, medium and long. They can be equipped with two types of chambers made: using nitrided steel with a Remington 700 mounting rail or using anodized duralumin with an integrated Picatinny rail.
The bolts of the new rifles have an opening angle of 60 degrees and are equipped with one (mini action) or two rows of lugs (3 lugs). The barrels of all CZ 600 models are cold forged, nitrided and rifled and can be detached to change to a different caliber.
All models except the TRAIL version (which will be discussed in a moment) have a single-stage trigger with adjustable weight pull between 1.3 and 3 lbs, i.e. 0.6 kg and 1.3 kg. Trigger adjustment is made with an Allen wrench, so it can be done without disassembling the weapon. The safety is located on the back of the bolt, which facilitates intuitive thumb operation. All models except the Trail version are fed from detachable double-stack magazines with a capacity of 3 to 5 rounds - depending on the caliber.
The CZ 600 TRAIL model, which can be called "tactical", has slightly different characteristics. First of all, it uses a two-step trigger and a safety device borrowed from the CZ BREN 2 automatic rifle. It is fed from AR15 or BREN magazines (version chambered for 7.62x39mm rounds). More information about individual models is listed below.
The new CZ 600 series currently has he Alpha, Range, Trail, Lux and Ergo models.
The CZ 600 Alpha model is equipped with a polymer, fiber-reinforced stock with a plastic, soft-touch panels around the grip and the front and rear sections of the stock.
The weapon is available in nine calibers: 223 Rem., 7.62 × 39, 224 Valkyrie, 308 Win., 6 Creedmore, 6.5 Creedmore, 6.5 PRC, 30-06 Sprg., 300 Win. Mag., 8x57IS. The semi-heavy barrel is replaceable and has a threaded tip. On the duralumin chamber we will find an integrated Picatinny rail for mounting optics. The manufacturer guarantees grouping of shots below 1 MOA (sub-MOA) at 100 meters.
The CZ 600 Range is a universal disc and hunting rifle equipped with a heavy, cold-forged barrel that guarantees grouping of less than 0.75 MOA at 100 meters.
The stock is made of high-quality laminated wood. A Picatinny rail for mounting a monopod is installed at the bottom of the stock. In addition, the stock has a simple adjustment system that does not need tools. The pistol grip is adapted for right-handed shooters. The handguard is equipped with double-sided QD sockets. The receiver in the CZ 600 model is made of nitrided steel with spaces for mounting a Remington 700 type rail. The weapon is available in 308 Win and 6 Creedmore calibers.
The CZ 600 Trail that has already been mentioned is a compact sports rifle with a "tactical" design.
The weapon is equipped with a stock with a long top Picatinny rail and an M-Lok interface for mounting all kinds of accessories. The pistol grip was made in the AR15 standard and can be adapted to the preferences of the shooter with the CZ P-09 pistol grip panels. The telescopic buttstock can be locked in four positions. It is also equipped with a cheek pad on the left side. The rifle in caliber .223 Rem can be fed from STANAG magazines, while ammunition for the 7.62x39mm model is fed from magazines for the CZ BREN 2 rifle.
The CZ 600 LUX is an elegant hunting rifle with walnut and laminated wood stock.
The knob of the charging handle is also made of walnut, and the stock is decorated with intricate cuts, ensuring a high aesthetic and functional handling. The weapon is available in five calibers: 223 Rem., 308 Win., 8×57 IS, 30-06 Sprg., 300 Win. Mag. The barrels of the weapon are cold-forged and the chamber is made of nitrided steel with spaces for mounting a Remington 700 rail. The weapon is also equipped with iron sights.
The CZ 600 Ergo, in our subjective opinion, the most futuristic model from the presented range, is a rifle referred to as premium.
The stock of this model is made of a fiber-reinforced polymer, giving it an extremely ergonomic shape. The stock's length is adjusted by adding or removing rubber spacers at the stock's foot. The magazine, when locked, serves as a permanent magazine. The optics for the CZ 600 Ergo can be attached via the Picatinny rail. The weapon is available in 223 Rem., 308 Win., 6.5 Creedmore, 30-06 Sprg., 300 Win. Mag., 8x57IS calibers.
We are waiting for the first tests and impressions.
