There are many unusual shooting designs that were made around the world. From the French Chauchat machine gun, through the Russian TKB-022PM Korobov carbine to almost modern OICW, the designers had different visions of an effective small arm.
The fantasy has not diminished over the years, and an example of such (the subjective opinion of the writer) can undoubtedly be the product of the SAVAGE company called the 110 PCS (Pistol Chassis System).
The weapon, classified as a "handgun" in the manufacturer's catalog, is a pistol based on a bolt action mechanism, which is known to be used mostly in... hunting and sniper rifles.
The Savage product is equipped with a 10.5-inch barrel with a medium profile length, with a 5/8-24 twist rate. The offer includes weapons chambered for the 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, 350 Legend, 300 BLK and .223 Rem rounds. The barrel and the receiver are made of carbon steel, while the stock is made of milled aluminum.
On the stock one will find M-Lok slots for mounting accessories, aggressive cuts on the lower part that make it easier to lean the weapon against, for example, a VTAC barricade and QD sockets for tactical sling swivels. The weapon is topped with a picatinny rail to which the stock can be fitted. An trigger adjustable in the range of 2.5-6 lb (1.13-2.72 kg), AICS box magazine and an interchangeable AR15 style grip are also noteworthy.
The above features constitute the platform's versatility and considerable tuning potential. The price of the new Savage 110 PCS is 999 USD. Will the gun find recognition among shooters, that's the real question...
