After the successful Shot Show 2022 for Crye Precision, during this year's SOFIC 2022 the company decided to present another batch of new products. This time they concern the classic of the genre, i.e. the Crye Precison JPC.
The new line of equipment is the JPC R-Series. The "collection" consists of 16 elements, and its central part is a refreshed and modified JPC plate carrier.
The change in functionality and slightly in the appearance of the JPC was made by none other than Mat Johnson himself - the person responsible, among other things, for the design of the Eagle Industries CIRAS and the creation of the MJK or Matt Johnson Khaki colors.
The first thing that draws attention is the absence of the iconic tan/fde hypalon on the shoulders. The arms are now made of multicam camouflage, and the arms have narrow loops sewn into the arms to facilitate wire management of vest-mounted devices.
This is also one of the features of the new line of equipment. Apart from the reinforcement of the structure, small loops have been added in many places to help to deal with the wiring. Another curiosity about the new JPC is the fact that different sizes of plate pouches have been abandoned. Crye's proposal (designed by Matt Johnson, among other things) is a single size pouch that accommodates various sizes and shapes of plates, while ensuring good adhesion of the material to them. This design allows the use of one size of front flaps and other accessories, giving both larger and smaller users the same load carrying possibilities.
Another important element of the new R Series seems to be the new, slightly remodeled front flap holding 3 STANAG magazines. The flap is mounted primarily on the front of the new JPC, but as the available, slightly underwhelming photo material shows, it can also be used in conjunction with the backplate itself via the new harness made by CP.
This configuration can also be enhanced with a mesh panel for the chest. The flap itself can also be mounted on the harness, giving it a light chest rig configuration for situations where the weight of the gear is important and ballistic protection is not necessary.
The R-Series line is completed with new cummerbunds, shoulder straps, and a range of pouches and pockets that can be mounted both under and next to the front and rear panels, giving an almost unlimited equipment configuration options. The photos also show a new backpack or backpack panel, but not much is known about it.
We will be following the development and availability of new Crye Precision R Series components, which are expected to appear on the market in the last quarter of 2022 and we will be sure to write more about it.
