Helikon-Tex, a Polish brand dealing mainly in tactical and outdoor clothing, has introduced a new line of glasses into its offer at the beginning of December. With names referring to Red Data Book of Birds, they may interest airsoft players, where eye protection is an essential element in the hobby. The glasses are divided into 3 variants with quite different designs.
TrinRay (from Latin Tringa glareola, wood sandpiper)
LoxRay (from Latin Loxia pytyopsittacus, parrot crossbill)
LonRay (from Latin Lanius minor, lesser grey shrike)
The first of the discussed models, i.e. TrinRay are Half Frame glasses, with frames only in the upper part.
The lenses are made of polycarbonate, additionally covered with a hydrophobic (to protect against evaporation and water settling in rainy conditions) and oleophobic (to protect against contamination with greasy substances) coating, and an additional layer reinforcing the entire structure. UV filters have also been added. The frames themselves are a minimalist design with simple temples, no adjustment, and a clear break point when folding and rubberized elements for better grip. Variants with Adaptiv Green frames and grey or brown lenses are available.
The LoxRay model are the most classic full-rimmed black glasses. Despite having different lenses, they also have full protection on the sides thanks to thicker frames.
The glasses themselves have the same reinforcing layers, oleophobic, hydrophobic and UV coatings. Helikon also offers this model in Basic and Polarized versions with an additional layer thanks to the Full Revo finish.
For trips to the shooting range, the LanRey Shield Style series was created, i.e. half-frame glasses with lenses in the form of an interchangeable, one-piece lens. Like other models, they have all the protective layers already mentioned. More demanding users can choose between the Shooting and Shooting Pro variant expanded with 2 additional lenses in shades of gray and brown.
All the described glasses are already available for 99,99 EUR for the TrinRay Basic model, 84,99 EUR for the LoxRay Basic model and 99,99 EUR for the Polarized variant. The LanRay Shooting in a set with one lens for 59,99 EUR and in a Shooting Pro set with 3 lenses for 89,99 EUR. All models shown are sold with a hard case and a storage bag.
Additionally, they all meet the following standards:
H Z87.1+/ HZ87.1+ CE EN166 FT (20 hits with a ¼ inch steel ball flying at 45 m/s without deformation or eye contact)
H+SX 5-3. 1H1 FT KNCE/H+X2 C-12 H1 FT KNCE (resistant to impacts at 45 m/s)
