The well known firearms manufacturer Smith & Wesson has decided to expand its Model 1854 series of rifles with a version chambered in .357 Magnum. Originally offered in .44 Remington Magnum, and later in .45 Colt, this lever-action rifle is now available in a classic caliber preferred by many shooters for its versatility and controlled recoil.
The Model 1854 in .357 Magnum is available in three versions - a modern one, with an aluminum stock with 15 M-LOK slots, one with a black polymer stock and stainless steel parts, and one with a more traditional walnut stock finished in Armornite® technology for increased corrosion resistance. All versions feature a 19 ¼-inch threaded barrel, a 10-round tubular magazine, and smooth lever-action reloading.
As in the previous models, here we will also find a 4 ¾-inch Picatinny rail for mounting optics, an adjustable XS Sights® Ghost Ring rear sight, a front "gold" bead sight, or a yellow fiber optic sight in the M-LOK stock version, and a flat trigger. The removable tubular magazine allows for safe and easy unloading of the weapon.
Prices of the new model at the manufacturer's website range from $1,279, for the version with the polymer stock, to $1,399 for the other two.
