The newest American M5/M7 carbines (formerly known as the XM5/XM7) have become a permanent fixture in the US Army's arsenal and are slowly starting to appear in airsoft. The first replica was presented by Toxicant, recreated as a gas-powered design using parts in the MWSTokyoMarui standard (SIG Sauer NGSW MCX-SPEAR conversion kit by Toxicant). Well Pro has also taken up the challenge with their newly proposed PROW MCX Spear XM5 MWS replica. Despite its confusingly similar design, the replica has significant differences that may be decisive when choosing it.

As declared by the manufacturer, the construction is made of aluminum and steel for the internal parts. The declared standard of the parts is to be based on a system similar to the MWS from Tokyo Marui. The main element differentiating the replicas from Toxicant and Well Pro are the magazines. Despite using standard 6mm BBs, one replica features magazines replicating the 6.8x51/.277 Fury (Toxicant) caliber, while the Well Pro variant is based on the 7.62x51/.308 caliber variant with replicated L7AWM hybrid magazines by Lancer.

Additionally, videos have been released showing the replica in action and demonstrating the possibilities of using a botl carrier made of steel (weighing 317g) and aluminum (weighing 157g). The new PROW MCX Spear XM5 MWS replica from Well Pro is scheduled for release in December of this year. Currently, pre-orders are taking place in Asian stores with the price of 945USD for the replica and 59USD for additional L7AWM magazines for the replica.
