The Double Eagle brand remains one of the favorite choices among players due to its very attractive price-to-quality ratio and a quite diverse product lineup. One of the main highlights is a range of AR-15 carbine replicas based on the MWS system developed by Tokyo Marui, offering comparable performance and high reliability. At the same time, Double Eagle does not limit itself exclusively to AR-15 replicas, as demonstrated last year by the announcement of the BRN-180/DWS-180 replica, which has now received a new iteration this year.
Similarly to the original, which received a complete conversion transforming the classic carbine into an “ugly duckling” bullpup configuration inspired by the L85 rifle (BRN 180 in L85 form), Double Eagle surprises with a fully ready-to-use DWS 23 conversion of the replica into the AKB-23/L85 configuration.
The entire design is based on the same principles as the product from ALY & KAUFMAN LLC, utilizing a standard replica upper receiver along with a dedicated trigger housing. The construction uses standard internal components of the DWS-180 replica, including a steel bolt carrier group and a standard trigger mechanism. All external elements are retained, with the option to install additional cosmetic accessories such as a handguard cover or a cheek riser mounted on the top rail.
Plans also include a slightly modified version of the DWS-180 replica under the name Lupus. In addition to its deceptively similar appearance, the charging handle has been redesigned (now located in the handguard), while both the upper receiver and the handguard itself have been extended and given a new form.
Another announced bullpup replica is a gas-powered FN F2000, although unfortunately no additional details about this model have been provided.
Among the more traditional designs, new PCC carbine models from Nemo Arms have been prepared, including the Mongoose9mm model, which uses the same magazines as the CZ Scorpion, just like the Daniel Defence PCC replica.
