Almost from the very beginning, we are following the news about a replica of the newest version of the AK carbine. At first, there were guesses based on the photographs of the characteristic parts of the AK-12 published by the manufacturer. Then there were photos of prototypes. Finally, a dozen or so photos from the working production line and finally we had the opportunity to look at the carbines at the IWA 2019 fair. Yesterday, we received information about the date of release - replicas will be available from 17 April.
Two variants will be immediately available: the AK-12, a replica of a carbine which originally uses the 5.45x39 mm ammunition and the AK-15hich originally uses the 7.62x39 mm round. In the airsoft reality, the AK-12 and AK-15 are the basically the same replica, the difference lies solely in the curvature and design of the magazine sold with it. You can see it perfectly in the photos above. The AK-15 is the replica with a more curved magazine (like the AKM/AKMS). Of course, airsoft magazines are interchangeable. Less picky users can mix them up as they please.
Replicas of 5.45x39 mm magazines will be available as mid-caps holding 130 BBs and hi-caps holding 450 BBs.
Replicas of 7,62x39 mm magazines will be available as mid-caps holding 130 BBs. Hi-caps will hold 600 BBs which is typical for AKM magazines.
Simultaneously with the release of the basic black version of the AK-12/15, LCT has announces a version in the Taiga Landscape DIGITAL CAMO:
Information about how the real AK-12/15 carbines differ from earlier versions can be found on the Internet. The replicas are built on the basis of a standard V3 gearbox in a very typical LCT configuration with a piston with a full steel teeth, a nozzle with an o-ring and an aluminum piston head with a bearing. We will be able to say much more about this replica in the coming days.
And finally, a short presentation of the real AK-12:
