Not so long ago we wrote about the start of the Bundeswehr's proceeding to determine the winning company that will deliver a new DMR for the army, which will be called the G26.
As we have found out, the Bundeswehr also took steps to acquire a dedicated scope for the above-mentioned rifle.
According to German military specifications, the scope must meet the following requirements:
- a minimum magnification of x5, up to the maximum of x16
- TReMoR 3 targeting reticle (shown below)
- a possibility of adding an additional sight at an angle of 45 degrees in relation to the scope
- color/cover: Cerakote Sniper Gray H-234 (similar to the rifle itself)
- weight: less than 1000g
- maximum length: less than 310 mm (i.e. it will not be a scope like the Schmidt&Bender 5-25 PMII often seen on the G28)
- vertical and horizontal reticle adjustment of 0.1 miliradian per click
- lifetime: at least 6000 shots
Based on the above specification, it is very possible that either the Schmidt & Bender 5-20×50 PM II Ultra Short
or the American EOTech Vudu 5-25X50 FFP will become selected.
The contract is to cover 145 scopes with a set of accessories and potential suppliers must respond to the offer by May 4, 2020. The total annual turnover of the contractor must be at least 1 million EUR in the last 3 years to guarantee smooth delivery of spare parts for the next 20 years.
