By the decision of the Bundeswehr, and specifically those responsible for purchasing equipment, the German land forces will receive 700 vehicles Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse Greeenliner (classified as trucks) with a full service package in September.
The new Mercedes will be used, among other roles, as command vehicles (thanks to the installation for KF and VHF radio stations) and to complement other unarmored vehicles in the function of transporting people and equipment. The first batch of 300 Greenliners will firstly go to the units that are part of the VJTF (Very High Readiness Joint Task Force) 2023.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse Greenliner version from 2020 is equipped with a 2,987 cm3 6-cylinder diesel engine, providing 184 hp. The vehicle, in its basic configuration, can transport 4 soldiers with equipment. Additional equipment in the cabin includes, among other things, weapon racks and personal equipment storage. The maximum load weight is 670 kg.
