International media report on a successful test of the new US Navy laser weapon.

Photos and videos provided by the US Navy show the USS Portland navy ship which shot down an unmanned aircraft.
The US Navy did not provide the exact location where the new laser weapon system was tested. The power of the new weapon was also undisclosed, but the 2018 report from the International Institute for Strategic Studies says about 150 kilowatts of power.

According to the doctrine of the US Navy, laser weapons are expected to effectively protect ships against drones or small armed boats.
