We admit that we do not know how many entries about the new US Army and USMC pistol model M17/M18 did we write. It seems, however, that the matter will finally find its happy end, because here is information about the introduction of the gun on a large scale in the US Marine Corps.
The new weapon went to the USMC training battalion with Quantico in the spring of 2019, but it was not yet determined when the new SIG Sauer would start reaching units in the field. Nevertheless, the latest USMC announcement says that new guns will start appearing in the hands of Marines in the fourth quarter of 2020. The USMC budget plan assumes that 32,832 M18 guns will be purchased in the next two years. 20,648 in 2019 and a further 12,184 in 2020.
The corps representatives confirmed that the first units to receive the M18 will be the USMC Recon, Provost Marshal Offices and Marine Corps Security Forces.
The USMC will also purchase 7TS Safariland holsters for the M18 pistols, as part of the US ARMY order.
