During a visit to the base of the 18th Mechanized Division in Siedlce, the Minister of National Defense received a report about achieving initial operational readiness from the commander of the unit Gen. Jarosław Gromadziński. The division is expected to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2021 on the eve of the Dragon-21 military exercise.
The 18th Division consists of three brigades: 1 Warsaw Armored Brigade, 21 Podhale Rifle Brigade, and the 19th Mechanized Brigade with headquarters in Lublin.
The 18th Mechanized Division also includes the 18th Logistic Regiment from Łomża and the 18th Command Battalion from Siedlce.
During the visit, Minister Błaszczak handed over two command vehicles based on the KTO Rosomak wheeled APC platform, MSBS GROT carbines, VIS 100 pistols and BOR sniper rifles to the unit.
It is worth pointing out that GROT rifles have pistol grips made by IMI Defense, which replaced the existing MAGPUL ones.
