Tomorrow, on July 14 at 11:00 am in Wesoła, during a press conference with the participation of, among others, the Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak, we will learn the details of the acquisition of the American M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 version Main Battle Tanks by the Polish Armed Forces.
The model that Poland wants to acquire is the latest version of the Abrams Main Battle Tank (named after one of the famous American generals, as all US tanks are) in service since 2020. The SEPv3 features, among other things, improved armor and systems that protect the tank against remotely launched explosives and new fire protection systems.
The propulsion unit and the fire control system were also modified compared to their predecessors by adding the Ammunition Data Link system, which allows information to be sent to rounds compatible with it, such as the M829A4 Advanced Kinetic Energy and the XM1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose round. The tank is also equipped with the CROWS-LP remotely controlled weapon module.
