Colder days are coming, so it's time to think about jackets. VIKTØS is a family-run business based in Janesville, Wisconsin. Launched in the fall of 2017 by the combined effort of industry and military veterans, whose mission is to make innovative equipment for tactical users. The product line is designed to transcend the typical boundaries of conventional tactical companies and cover the entire way of life: from combat to training to R&R.
The Farthermost jacket is an interesting solution, considering that it has four pouches for magazines on the chest. It is made of a cotton/nylon blend fabric with a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) coating. It is filled with FiteLite insulation.
Farthermost contains many interesting design elements:
- four previously mentioned pockets for a carbine magazine in the STANAG standard,
- easier access to a sidearm by using zippers on its sides
- upper chest pockets
- in addition, the sleeves have integrated Velcro pockets for extra capacity,
- the inner layer is made of a flexible Combatgrade cotton/nylon blend fabric,
- the body is filled with FiteLite™ 140 gm, and the insulation 120 gm sleeve,
- inside there are two internal cargo pockets,
- it has internal communication ports for cable routing.
It is down-filled
The Zerodarker jacket was designed for arctic conditions. The outer fabric is a ripstop nylon with a Durable Water Repellency outer coating. The manufacturer gives the value of 750 CUI, which is the elasticity of natural down. It is quite a lot, but you should remember what conditions this product is aimed at. It has the same technical solutions as the above-described Farthermost model. In addition, the elbows and shoulders are reinforced with NyCo.
Both jackets have a one-year warranty on workmanship and materials, and were developed based on the experience of US veterans.
