One of the leading manufacturers of high-quality aiming optics, EOTech, is entering the market of multifunctional laser sights with its new product: the OGL (On Gun Laser) module.
Designed for military and law enforcement, the EOTech OGL offers high power green and IR laser emitters. The appearance of a version intended for the civilian market is probable. It is believed to be using an IR 0.7mW and a green 5mW laser emiter.
The housing of the small device is made of high-strength aluminum. Two separate adjustment channels are used here: one integrated for both laser sights (this makes it easier to set them up) and the other for the IR illuminator. The adjustment accuracy is 0.2 mRAD, its maximum range is 50 mRAD. Indicators and illuminator are moved to the sides so as not to get in the way with standard sights on AR weapons.
The EOTech company points out that the construction of the OGL module is designed in such a way as to improve the ergonomics of its use in relation to many competing products. The FIRE switch has been placed near the rear edge of the housing, and in front of it there is a lever that allows to quickly and easily change the focus of the illuminator (in the range of about 5-115 mRAD).
At the moment it is not known what type of IR illuminator was used in the module. There is a chance that a VCSEL type emitter was used in it, which is characterized by, among other things, even illumination of an area.
The module is controlled using a panel located in the back of the device, next to the battery compartment. A single CR123 battery is responsible for powering the device. EOTech OGL is compatible with Crane switches, the Modlite ModButton Lite 7" is included in the set. The set also includes protective caps for optics.
The product was visible at the manufacturer's website for some time, where its price was $2199. According to information available on the Internet, the civilian version may be several hundred dollars cheaper.
