According to a press release issued by Aimpoint, a Swedish manufacturer of well known sights, its products were selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The five-year contract for the supply of Aimpoint® Duty RDS™ sights is worth $7 million and an additional $4 million for the CompM4s™ model. Deliveries began at the end of last year.

The Aimpoint® Duty RDS™ red dot sights have been designed with the requirements of modern law enforcement agencies in mind. The housing is made of durable aluminum, ensuring an adequate level of protection for all product components in all weather conditions, and the entire sight can withstand immersion to a depth of up to 25 meters. This model offers comfortable to use buttons for a 10-step adjustment of the brightness of the reticle with a size of 2 MOA (including 4 settings compatible with night vision systems). It uses a single CR2032 battery with a lifetime of up to 30,000 hours of continuous use. The sight is mounted to the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail using the included, single-piece absolute co-witness mount.

The Aimpoint® CompM4s™ is a larger and heavier red dot sight that is chosen by professionals around the world and has been used by U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force as for over 20 years as the M68 CCO (Close Combat Optic). It is powered by a single AA battery, which lasts for over 80,000 hours of continuous projection of the reticle (2 MOA) or much longer when using night vision compatible modes. The product is resistant to unfavorable weather conditions and can withstand immersion up to a depth of 45 meters. The set includes a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail mount.
