According to previously made predictions, Olight, a popular manufacturer of budget lighting for various applications, has presented and included in its offer the Osight red dot sight in its offer, which was field tested since February.
The basic purpose of the new Osight red dot sight is its use on handguns. This is facilitated by a footprint made in the popular RMR standard. It is also possible to use it on a long guns due to an optional adapter for Picatinny rail. The product is available in two variants: with red or with green dot, both in size 3 MOA . Adjusting the position of the dot corresponds to the value of 1 MOA per click (within a 45 MOA adjustment range).
The Osight housing is made of 7075-T6 grade aluminum. Within a large viewport, with dimensions of 0.94 x 0.85 "(about 24 x 21.5 mm), there is a lens with a multi-layer coating, positively affecting the clarity of the image. A built-in 170 mAh battery provides 70,000 hours of use in low brightness settings or several hundred hours in the higher ones. The whole device weighs 60 grams. The control buttons were placed on the side of the product, and there is also a place for the charge level indicator.
The adjustment of the dot brightness is possible in various ways, including manually (10 modes for daytime use and 2 night vision settings) and automatic, thanks to the built-in light intensity sensor. Osight is also equipped with a motion detector, which automatically turns the sight after 10 minutes of lack of movement and quickly turns it on after detecting movement.
As with some of the Olight flashlights, the new sight also did not lack innovation. The manufacturer has equipped the sight with a cover, which at the same time performs the function of an autonomous magnetic power bank. It weighs only 50 grams, and thanks to the capacity of 800 mAh, it is even possible to fully charge the built-in battery even three times. The device itself can be charged using a standard USB-C interface. An additional feature is the use of a display showing the charge percentage level - both of the "cover" and the sight.
The manufacturer ensures that his product has undergone strict tests (also with the participation of famous shooters, such as Luke cao or Danai Smuthkochorn), and after 10,000 shots there were no problems with holding the "zero". Osight meets the resistance standard to adverse effects of water in the IPX6 class (magnetic cover in the IPX4 class). The suggested retail price of the manufacturer is 199.99 USD (for the Red Dot model) or 229.99 USD (for the Green Dot model).
