The Swedish optics manufacturer, Aimpoint, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. Additionally, to mark this date, they have prepared a completely new pistol red dot sight , the Aimpoint COA. Combining experience from previous models such as the Aimpoint Acro, a new optic with a closed emitter has been prepared with quite interesting and innovative solutions.
The first fundamental difference from its older brother, the ACRO, which has been introduced to the market for over 7 years (Aimpoint: ACRO P-1 Micro Red Dot Sight) is its size. The new Aimpoint COA model features a lens with dimensions very similar to the ACRO model, but with a much sleeker and slimmer design intended for everyday use. The reticle has not changed, remaining a classic 3.5 MOA dot.
The design itself has received reinforcements in the form of a fairly recessed front lens for impact protection, an angular aluminum construction, and a completely new A-Cut mounting system.
Here, the classic mounting using screws or rails has been abandoned, and instead a locking groove with the rear sight acting as a lock have been used.
This makes assembly easier (no need to disassemble the slide), lowers the whole thing to Co-witnes height and allows to use the iron sights. At the same time, care was taken to place the CR2023 battery compartment on the side for easier access. The sight has as many as 12 brightness adjustmentlevels (4 night vision compatible and 8 standard ones). Additionally, new safety features have been introduced in the form of Auto Step Down Feature that reduces the brightness level every 2 hours, if none of the buttons have been activated, the sight is turned on and at brightness level 9 or higher.
The Unwanted Button Press Safety function protects against accidental switching on/off, where in the event of accidental activation it activates settings that can be changed for 4 seconds. The most demanding should not worry about weather conditions or immersion with declared water resistance up to 25 meters.
The new Aimpoint COA collimator is available exclusively with Glock pistols in the COMBO set, where ready-made sets of optics will be available for sale with G19, G43X, G45, G47 and G48 pistols from the latest 5th generation. Ready-made sets can be found on the official Glock website. At the moment, the price of the ready-made COMBO sets has not been announced.
