The concept of PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine) carbines has already been defined and firmly rooted in the minds of shooters. A new concept in this field was proposed by Mimic Firearms, the company behind the Mimic Speed9 project. The new design is based on the AR-15 platform with some modifications. The carbine operates on the basis of a blowback system, with a dedicated bolt, upper and lower receiver.
The standard AR-15 platform has retained elements such as the trigger assembly, stock and return mechanism guide, stock, AR-9 barrel, handguard and pins.
The main part of innovation in the Mimic Speed9 project is the magazine-based feed system capable of holding up to 60 9x19 mm rounds in a single magazine. This was achieved by creating two separate magazines of a simple design, placed at 180 degrees relative to each other and fitted into the dimensions of classic AR-15 STANAG magazines.
This allows the magazines to fit into standard AR-15 pouches and the reloading procedure can be performed by simply rotating the magazine.
The carbine visually looks very similar to the Bolter from the Warhammer 40K series (ed. author's own opinion), but it is still in the development phase. At the moment, reservations can be made free of charge. The final product is to be available at a price of 1700 to 2000USD and the expected availability date is Q1 2026.
