Fabryka Broni Radom continues development work on subsequent variants of the MSBS Grot system carbine. After the 5.56x45 mm caliber variant in a classic and bullpup version and one chambered in 7.62x39 mm, the civilian market will receiver a variant chambered in 7.62x51 mm/.308 Winchester using standard AR-10 magazines. As we know from Fabryka Broni Radom, the rifle will be in the same configuration as the weapon used by the military.
This includes a 20 inch/508 mm barrel with a twist rate of 254 mm and 4 grooves ending with a 1/2-28 M18x1 thread, on which a muzzle brake/flash hider is screwed. There is also a 3-position gas regulator (1st position - normal use, 2nd position - heavy conditions, dirty weapon, T position - use with a multifunctional muzzle device, i.e. sound moderators). The trigger mechanism used is of the Single Action type. The layout of the manipulators, along with the operation and the ability to eject spent casings on both sides known from the 5.56 rifle, has still been preserved, and only the critical elements have been reinforced to enable firing with more powerful ammunition.
From the outside, the most visible differences are the longer handguard with the M-LOK mounting system and a modular stock with adjustable butt plate and cheek pad, but it is still possible to use a standard polymer stock or an adapter with an AR-15 guide. Other interchangeable elements include an AR-15 pistol grip and a Hera Arms selectors.
Fabryka Broni Radom has not yet revealed the release date, but the announced price is around 4,211 EUR for the Grot .308 S20 rifle complete with a single 10-round magazine and a toolbox.
