The first information about new products appeared slightly over a month ago. Yesterday we received official specifications of both products. The first of them, ASTER, is a module designed for V2 gearboxes. As GATE describes it, this is not so much the successor but a younger brother of the already known TYTAN module. The intention of the ASTER design is to offer similar functionalities and usability at a slightly lower price.
Basic features:
- Protection against battery reverse polarity
- Proximity trigger sensor which offers even 250 possible sensitivity settings
- Option to configure its main settings simply via trigger or completely through GATE Control Station app for Android, Windows and macOS (also for iOS in 2020 after Bluetooth® adapter release)
- Built-in RGB led makes programming easier
- Removing of safety lever is not required
- No modification of gearbox shell needed, even in case of KRYTAC* and ICS (*when bolt catch lever is removed. This applies to ASTER R1. Next ASTER revisions will be fully compatible with KRYTAC gearbox)
- Optical gear cam sensor supports all types of gears: Infinite Torque-up, DSG, SSG, 19-tooth and standard
- Binary trigger function as basic function
- Premium level functionality at fair price – extremely profitable price-performance ratio
- GCS app allows for making firmware updates via the internet, what enables improvements
Technical parameters:
- Support for stock and mid-tuned AEGs (high-tuned AEGs are supported in case of EXPERT firmware edition)
- Maximum operating voltage: 12.75V (LiPO 11.1V)
- Minimum operating voltage: 3V
- Absolute maximum voltage: 17V
- Conformal coating (Military Specification MIL-V-173C) – resistance to atmospheric conditions
Comparison of the functions of ASTER and TYTAN modules:
The second module, the X-ASR, is much simpler, but has an extensive system protecting the replica's mechanism, including protection against reverse polarity connection.
Functionally, the X-ASR is similar to the NanoASR MOSFET which in in production for some time now. It is simply a system in which control is carried out with a low current and the larger current is sent directly to the motor. This protects the contacts from burning and improves the response to the trigger pull and the rate of fire. This is the standard role of all MOSFET circuits. The distinguishing feature of X-ASR are the above mentioned additional electrical and anti-corrosion protections.
We already dealt with the X-ASR module while reviewing the Specna Arms Edge series replica (LINK). This modules are factory installed in all Edge series replicas.
