Representatives of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (Polish Armaments Group) and the American company Bell Textron signed a letter of intent in Łódź Military Aviation Plant No. 1, regarding cooperation on the "Kruk" (Crow) program, the purpose of which is to select and purchase modern attack helicopters for the Polish army.
The agreement between the companies concerns cooperation in the event of choosing the Bella AH-1Z Viper helicopter (a development version of the legendary Cobra) in the proceedings for a new attack helicopter for Poland.
In addition, if Bell Textron wins, the WZL-1 plant in Łódź may become a Polish competence center for the maintenance, repair, modification and modernization of the above-mentioned helicopters.
Currently, the legendary and very old, Mi-24 helicopters act as attack helicopters in the Polish army.
In the "Kruk" program, the competitors of the AH-1Z "Viper" are to be:
the AH-64E Apache Guardian (Boeing - USA)
the AW249 (włoskiego koncernu Leonardo)
and the Franco-German EC 665 Tiger Eurocopter (now Airbus) .
