The history of the Ford Ranger's road to the Polish Army is somewhat reminiscent of the Spanish soap opera, because due to the closure of the Nissan plant in Barcelona due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ford Ranger became the new Polish "Mustangs" and not Nissan Navara.
The finale of the procedure for Honker's successor in the Polish Army will be the ceremony of receiving the first one hundred Rangers by the Polish Army, namely by the 2nd Regional Logistics Base from Rembertów. The total number of XTL Rangers that the army will receive is 648. By the end of this year, 214 vehicles will be delivered. The value of the contract that initially covered 635 Nissan Navara cars is 121 million PLN gross. After the confusion about switching vehicles to a Ford product, it was decided not to change its value, despite the fact that the Rangers turned out to be a cheaper option, in return increasing the number of ordered vehicles to 648.
The successor to Honker is a twin-cab model with the XLT equipment package, powered by a 170hp 2.0 EcoBlue turbodiesel engine with a maximum torque of 420Nm.
